Matt Perkins is an American algorithmic artist, also known by the handle @nudoru, based in Charlotte, North Carolina, who uses computer code to create generative art that draws on impressionist painting and his own old sketchbooks.He spent more than two decades in digital design and web development before teaching himself generative art in 2021, after seeing Robert Hodgin's Meander project.
In the roughly ten weeks after he discovered the Tezos art scene in December 2021, Perkins released twenty-eight collections inspired largely by nature and biology, reworking ideas from a personal code library and drawings kept in his old sketchbooks. Cold Mountain, one of these releases, sold out its editions within a three-hour burn window and drew nearly 10,000 tez, about $45,000, in total volume within about six weeks of its release. He describes the resulting style as “natural media”, reflecting his college training in graphic design and illustration and the sketchy, unfinished quality of his early sketchbooks. He also cites Tyler Hobbs, Ben Kovach and Matt DesLauriers as influences, valuing how openly they teach generative techniques to newer artists.
In August 2022 he gave away Sem-i-koh-li-zhen B-side as a free airdrop to collectors of his edition in “The Blind Gallery - Bear Market Edition”.In April 2023 he released Lake Festival, a 200-edition collection priced at $200 each, through the platform Verse.His 2025 work Whisked Away, Part 1 minted on the platform Rodeo.His work has also been shown in group exhibitions, including “Natural Growth” at the Yunjian Art Museum in Shanghai in 2024.
