Markus Magnusson (Swedish, b. 1988) is a digital artist and animator.,He is known professionally as Motion Markus, and his slick, clean animation style has drawn hundreds of thousands of followers on Instagram.,In 2022 he released Invisible Friends, a 5,000-piece animated PFP collection in which each invisible character is identified only by its clothing and gait.,
Magnusson was among the first artists to join the Random Character Collective, founded by James Curran in November 2021 to bring together animator-led generative collections. Invisible Friends grew out of that collective, and the project went on to collaborate with the apparel brand Kith, which produced physical clothing matching individual characters' outfits, and with 3D animator Nguyen Nhut on a companion line of toys.
The collection launched on February 23, 2022 at a 0.25 ETH mint price,and a one-of-one piece, Golden Friend from the Invisible Friends Specials collection, sold at auction for 496.69 ETH, with proceeds going to the collective's charity fund.Magnusson described the project's intent in an interview, saying it was made “for people who are still kids at heart. People who just wanna have a bit of fun on the Internet.”
