Surfdontfall (American, b. 1995) is the working name of the self-taught painter Mark Wilson, who was born in Hampton, Virginia and began painting in February 2019.,,He works in oil, acrylic, spray paint and pastel on canvas and paper, and has described his own art as punk.,
Wilson has described his process as “direct story telling of the spirit”, shaped by internalized experience, thought, mood and instinct. In 2020 he was named a finalist for the Artist in Residence program at American Landmark.His work was included in “The Art of C.I.P.H.E.R.”, a Downing-Gross Cultural Arts Center exhibit highlighting artists connected to a long-running open mic night in Hampton Roads, though the show was cancelled under a building-closure order.
