Marjan Moghaddam (Iranian-American, b. 1961) is a digital artist and animator who works primarily with 3D computer graphics, including animation, sculpture, print and installation. Her practice centres on digital bodies in scenes that mimic the aesthetics of video games and special effects. Since 2016 she has made the #Arthacks series, which places her digital figures into footage of exhibitions and art fairs.
Moghaddam was born in Tehran and earned a BFA from the State University of New York in 1993, followed by an MFA from Long Island University in 1999. She lives and works in Brooklyn and is a tenured professor of digital art at LIU Brooklyn. Her exhibition history with computer art goes back to the 1980s, and in 1996 she was the featured artist for the launch of the first commercial internet art gallery in New York, sponsored by Prodigy Inc. Her augmented reality work includes a Chronometric Sculpture for the Smithsonian Museum, commissioned from the Halcyon Foundation, and she was Adobe's artist-in-residence in 2019.
