Marcelo Terça-Nada (Brazilian, b. 1978) is a multidisciplinary artist and researcher who works at the intersection of the city, writing, photography, printed matter, urban intervention and digital art. Born in Belo Horizonte, he lives and works in Salvador, Bahia, and has exhibited since his first solo show in 1996 in Brazil and abroad, including Argentina, India, the United States, Spain, the Netherlands, Slovenia and Austria.
Since 2002 he has been a founding member of Grupo Poro, with which he has carried out urban interventions and taken part in exhibitions including the 3rd Bahia Art Biennial in Salvador and Cidade Gráfica at Itaú Cultural in São Paulo.,He studied at the Escola de Belas Artes at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, graduating in 2003.He later earned a master's degree in Theory and History of Art from PPGAV-UFBA in 2024, researching contemporary art's relationship to food systems, and is a PhD candidate in the same program.,
He has published several books, including Salvador em Suspensão (Salvador in Suspension), Como zelar uma cidade vazia (How to look at an empty city) and Verbetes Moventes (Moving Words).,His photography has also appeared in the catalogue for Brazil's representation at the 57th Venice Biennale in 2017.He received the Brasil Arte Contemporânea Prize in 2011 from the São Paulo Biennial Foundation and Brazil's Ministry of Culture, the Funarte Contemporary Art Prize in 2012, and the Jorge Portugal Art Prize in 2020 from Funceb/SecultBA.
He also researches food and the appreciation of Brazilian socio-biodiversity.He created and maintains RedeZero, a network of websites that includes his blog Virgulaimagem, which he has kept since 2003.
