Bio

Marcelo Moura is the working name of Marcelo Moura Campos Filho, a Brazilian electronic composer and modular synthesist based in Palmas, the capital of Tocantins.^, He makes generative art and music using open-source modular synthesizers, live-coding tools and code, releasing much of the work on fxhash.^, He describes his practice as an attempt to abstract the relationship between memory, noise and color.

Moura entered digital art in 2021, after a YouTube livestream about crypto art led him to hicetnunc, a Tezos-based marketplace for digital art.^, He received his first tezos from Koshino, a co-founder of the platform, and used it to mint music from his own Bandcamp albums. The exposure helped him find an audience beyond the advertising work he had done previously.

Moura's generative work grew out of his modular synthesizer practice. A friend introduced him to Hydra, the live-coding visual language created by Olivia Jack, which he combines with the modular synthesis software VCV Rack. His series ueneu consists of nineteen pieces coded as recursive gradients, each a band of color compressed into a small file. His 2022 fxhash work Pupila3 was shown at MAM-Rio during Hacktudo 2022.
