Marcel Deneuve is a self-taught digital artist who designs science-fiction environments in 3D, from multi-layered cities to orbital stations and vast alien structures. He picked up drawing in 2017, working from books and the internet, before discovering Blender 3D and shifting his focus to architectural concepts and atmospheric world-building. He cites influences ranging from Eugène Delacroix to the Japanese artists Tsutomu Nihei, Yoshitaka Amano and Takashi Murakami.
In his own words, his work depicts “multi-layered cities with no XYZ limit, orbital stations of monstrous sizes, STAR EATERS, mysterious structures stitching the planet, giant ships wandering in the cosmic sea”. One of Deneuve's notable collaborations was with the space-tech company Barrelhand, which resulted in a piece called Heron. Heron was delivered to the surface of the Moon on the Memory Disc, a collaborative archive project between Barrelhand and UNESCO. He has also made artwork marking Ethereum's Shanghai upgrade for Consensys.
