M A J I is the artistic alias of the Turkey-based artist Mustafa Buyukozer, whose digital illustrations explore psychedelic and surreal states of mind through fractal geometry, mandala forms and symbolic, mystical imagery.,He describes his work as an attempt “to convey a sense of interconnectedness between all things and explore the mystical aspects of the human experience”.
Buyukozer trained in calligraphy as a child, later taught himself graphic arts and UI design, and made early drawings in watercolor and pencil before a period away from art due to health problems. A 2005 trip to Goa, India, drew him back into art, and that year he co-founded Oom Vision, an online shop for psychedelic-inspired art and UV décor in Turkey. In 2007 he founded Maji E-Mag, a bilingual Turkish psytrance culture and art publication that ran for 19 issues until 2011 and carried his early digital artwork. From 2012 to 2014 he also ran Jojomi Internet Radio, an online station streaming lounge, techno, deep house and psytrance.
MAJI's illustrations layer fractal geometry with archetypal symbolism — mandala forms, dimensional portals and radiant figures — built with a precision he attributes to his background in UI design and graphic arts. His one-of-one Ethereum collection reworks ancient spiritual symbols using fractal geometry and mystical color palettes. His work has been exhibited in cities including New York, Bangalore, Bali, London and Istanbul. In 2024 that included “The Soul's Palette” at Superlative Gallery in Bali and the Artists Village at “NFT NYC”.
