Josh Katzenmeyer, who works under the name luxpris, is a creative technologist and artist and musician from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Using generative code, procedural outputs and collage, he crafts cold, geometric abstract landscapes that explore order and chaos in conjunction with technology.,
Before turning to visual art, Katzenmeyer worked primarily as a musician, making collages for gig flyers and album covers, and did not pursue visual art seriously until around 2018. He began exploring generative art after discovering IBNIZ, an esoteric programming environment, and left his day job to teach himself web development.He started tokenizing his work in early 2020, selling his first NFT on SuperRare after following early NFT artists on Twitter from around December 2019.,
He became an early contributor to Art Blocks, where his generative series Elevated Deconstructions (2020) and Pathfinders (2021) explore deterministic color palettes and brush textures that trail unpredictably across the canvas.,Selections from both series were included in Sotheby's “Natively Digital: A Curated NFT Sale” and Christie's “Post-War to Present” auctions in 2021.,He has also released the audiovisual album Territories of Elimination, combining 3D animation, code and generative computer music, and in 2021 minted the looping work The Grand Assimilation for the VerticalCrypto Art x Boson Protocol NFT Art Auction, curated by Micol Appruzzi.In 2022 his work was included in “CANON!”, a group show at Frieze Cork Street in London curated by Hymodernity.
