Luis Simó (Spanish, b. 1996) is a painter based in Valenciawhose work engages with the visual systems of contemporary culture, from advertising imagery to the compressed symbols of internet and meme culture.,His canvases combine chromatic intensity with compositional precision to reflect on how images shape human behaviour.
He holds a Fine Arts degree from the Polytechnic University of Valencia.He entered the crypto art space in late 2020, after his brother introduced him to CryptoPunks trading, and began offering CryptoPunk owners physical oil paintings of their tokens as commissions.In his own words, “I paint from what I live” — a conversation overheard on the street, a dream, a film, a meme.
After exhibiting at a Bitcoin conference in Miami, he painted Pepernica, a large-scale work referencing Picasso's Guernica and built to the same dimensions as the original. He made it in a rented warehouse with two collaborators, packed it into 21 modular panels for transport, and exhibited it the following year at the next Bitcoin Conference in Miami, where it was auctioned and acquired by Bitcoin Magazine.
His work has since been released across Ethereum, Bitcoin (via Counterparty and inscriptions) and Tezos.In 2022 one of his paintings appeared in the group exhibition “DYOR” at Kunsthalle Zürich,,alongside artists including Kevin Abosch and XCOPY.He is represented by Winners Galleryand has shown at fairs and galleries including West Bund Art & Design in Shanghai and the Dangdai Art Fair in Beijing.
