Lisa Orth is an American-based generative artist whose geometric abstractions draw on her background in graphic design and illustration, developed over more than three decades in the creative fields.Orth was the first official Art Director at Sub Pop Records in the late 1980s, designing Nirvana's first records and the label's iconic logo.,
Orth began working in Seattle as a graphic designer and art director, and by the late 1980s had also worked for the Center on Contemporary Art and the music magazine The Rocket. Orth later co-founded a Seattle design agency as creative director, where coding was first introduced into the practice, before leaving design in 2007 to become a tattoo artist known for a linework-based style.
When the pandemic halted tattooing in 2020, Orth turned to digital art and blockchain technology, discovering generative art around April 2021 and becoming, in the artist's words, “instantly obsessed”.,Orth released the first works on Hic et Nunc before moving to fxhash with Folding in 2021, followed that year by Between Stations and A Stitch Is Fine, generative pieces recognizable for their trademark color palettes.
Orth's Speak To Me, a 290-edition series on Art Blocks released in June 2023, layers and interrupts basic geometric shapes drawing loose inspiration from Suprematism and Constructivism.Orth's series They Wanted Us To Weave appeared in Unit London's 2023 group show “Building Blocks”, and Orth's inter/sections was shown in Feral File's “Truth” exhibition on the nature of reality and intuition.,
