Lisa Odette is a 3D and 2D artist and animator based in Madrid, Spain, who explores the female form through simple shapes and bright, mostly primary colors.,She describes her style as “simple yet overthought”, composing each piece from scratch, in a restricted palette, rather than using stock or realistic 3D models.
Both of her parents studied art, and she began drawing as a young child by imitating them, an activity she has said suited her as an introvert who loved spending time alone. She studied Graphic Design, and her work as a designer gradually incorporated more illustration, then motion graphics, before she learned 3D software and joined a 3D studio. From there she began developing personal projects centered on feminine characters, and works as a freelance 3D and 2D artist.
Her influences include the Avant-Garde movement, especially Henri Matisse, along with the sculptor Constantin Brâncuși, Pablo Picasso, Tamara de Lempicka, the Bauhaus movement, and Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock prints. In Sleeping Ladies, she combines a clean, geometric style and flat lighting with 2D textures so the work sits between the two mediums. Her Waiting Nymphs series uses dreamy, surreal lighting drawn from the Greek myth of Persephone, who ate a pomegranate seed in the underworld and was bound to return there for half of every year.
She has said that being part of the NFT art scene gave her the opportunity to develop her own style. Her piece Valentina was included in Visual Atelier 8's Top 5 NFT Picks in April 2022.In 2023 she contributed to Poesía de Protesta, a collection pairing visual artists with poets, released alongside visual artists including Anya Asano and Ivan Casis.
