Lena Ekert is a Russian digital artist who works at the intersection of generative systems, glitch processes, code-based art, and artificial intelligence tools. She approaches color not as decoration but as a condition that carries weight, duration, and emotional density. She describes her glitch aesthetic as “not an error” but “a refusal to be perfect”, a reminder of the human pulse inside the machine.
Ekert began as a large-scale abstract painter, but a personal, intense life event left her unable to touch a physical brush. Digital art became what she calls her “rescue”, with the screen becoming her canvas, pixels her pigments, and glitches her brushstrokes. She draws on the raw urgency of Abstract Expressionism, the glitch sensibility of early net.art, and the atmospheric tension of experimental electronic music, saying inspiration for her is not about borrowing forms but “borrowing courage”.
She releases work through Bitcoin Ordinals, drawn to their permanence and scarcity, likening the process to “pressing a track straight to vinyl”. Unlike Tezos or Ethereum, where Ekert sees movement, trading, and circulation, she feels Bitcoin carries a weight, a slower and deeper pulse that each piece becomes part of.In March 2025 she released Deluge through Gamma Prints, a 13-edition piece built on a foundation of color that explores hues and transitions through digital post-processing.She has called an earlier work, ERROR – Beauty Found, “my most feral work”, one that pushes beauty to its breaking point until it fractures and re-emerges in unpredictable forms.
In September 2024 her work appeared on a Times Square billboard as part of “Light Visions”, a group exhibition presented by Art Innovation Gallery. Her work has also been presented at Miami Art Basel and Art Basel Switzerland, and featured in Forbes.
