LEGIO X, born in the 1970s and based in South Florida, is an artist and self-taught musician working primarily with AI-generated video and imagery. He began releasing music under the name LEGIO X in 2019 before shifting to AI-generated video work in 2023.His work draws on both trained AI models and archival personal material, combining chaotic, deliberately imprecise visual textures with electronic and hypnagogic pop soundtracks.
LEGIO X's musical project debuted on July 30, 2019 with the single Medieval Kaos Ultra on the London label Dream Catalogue. Billed as an alternate soundtrack for the film Midsommar, the track fused medieval classical music with field recordings of insects, Burmese chants, Vietnamese gongs and Balinese mouth harps.Between 2019 and 2022, LEGIO X followed the Web3 art scene as a viewer, without minting his own work. His first mint came at the end of 2023, when he was selected for a show curated by Le Moon, and his second was funded through a right-to-mint initiative by Claire Silver's Accelerate Art.
In March 2025 LEGIO X presented Terminal Velocities, a ten-piece solo exhibition at objkt.one Gallery that transforms retro-futuristic computer-office scenes into hypnotic cybernetic dance imagery. The series sets figures resembling workers and executives against stock market graphs and computer wireframes, rendered in a chaotic black-and-white aesthetic punctuated by flashes of RGB and scored to electronic, hypnagogic pop music.
The 2024 series Static Dispersals & Reconstructed Fables comprises 32 pieces exploring the intersection of auditory heritage and visual futurism. Its title plays on the 1970s acid-punk album Static Disposal and REM's Reconstruction of the Fables, and its visual language draws on Lucas Samaras's quilted Reconstructions series. LEGIO X has said the work is rooted in personal memory, describing the crazy quilts handmade by his grandmother, who was half-Cherokee and self-taught, as childhood objects that shaped his sense of pattern and color.
Stat Solus MMXXVI was released through Heft, a contemporary gallery in New York City, on Verse.LEGIO X has also collaborated with other artists, including Shaun Keenan on Hot Cross Nuns.
