Bio

Lars Nagler is a German digital artist working across 3D animation, artificial intelligence and sound art, whose recursive, dreamlike imagery explores the human being and its co-evolution with the world.^, Making art since 1992, he first worked as a cook and a theatre stage decorator before studying photography at the Bauhaus in Weimar and becoming a freelance artist in 2007.^,

In 2021, Nagler began experimenting with AI tools and entered the NFT space, alongside his existing practice in 3D animation and short film.^, His 2021 short Shift Simmers Slips, made after his 2019 film Glimmen, adapted imagery from Luigi Serafini's illustrated encyclopedia Codex Seraphinianus into 3D animation. Several of his short films, including Phenomena in empty Spaces (2022) and the AI-animated WHAT IF (2023), were funded by the Kulturstiftung des Freistaates Sachsen, the Saxony state cultural foundation.

In 2023, his series The Garden of…, which explores the human face and affection through recursive, dreamlike landscapes, won the SOLO AI '23 Award from Colección SOLO.^, The €10,000 prize included a place in the group exhibition “Protection No Longer Assured” at Espacio SOLO in Madrid. He has cited the filmmakers Edgar Reitz, Alexander Kluge, Werner Herzog and Ingmar Bergman, and the photographers August Sander and Ansel Adams, as influences on his work. He has continued working across series including Purae Animarum (2022), Shamans & Alchemists (2025) and Contortions (2026), and since March 2026 has also directed the ART IN gallery in Meerane, Saxony.^,^,^,
