The effect comes from a particle-spring mesh in which tightly packed internal particles repel each other, a configuration kusakari documented openly through an ongoing series of posts on social media.² In the artist's own description, the piece Twilight “blends the sense of reality and unreality together, while creating a nostalgic atmosphere, similar to the blurring effect of wide-aperture photography”. The resulting abstractions take forms such as “planets floating in space, luminous creatures in deep sea, or a hole leading to another world in a dream”.¹
