Kunstloch makes mixed media works that are full of feelings, often dark, with elements of social commentary. The pieces are shaped by the overbearing isolation of living in a small rural village. Kunstloch has said the aim is simply to “make you stop, stare and think”.
Kunstloch is based in the Lake District in England and is self-taught, working primarily with photography and digital images edited from personal photographs of the area. In 2020 Kunstloch published Lake District Art Magazine, a 24-page book of images from locations including Ambleside, Grasmere and Coniston. Beyond that work, Kunstloch also experiments with paint, drawing and collage.
