Criptocromo is a visual artist working in graphite drawing and digital animation, whose imagery repeatedly fuses human bodies with plants. Drawings such as Starbody I: Ficus elastica and Starbody II: Drooling God render figures growing into or out of vegetation, while A successful exhibitionism I is captioned as “Human helianthus standing, and its face experiencing pollination”.
His name comes from the Greek for “hidden colour”. Working across graphite, watercolour and digital animation since at least 2018, he produces original drawings on paper that are sold alongside a matching NFT claim and certificate of authenticity. In 2021 he was named among a group of twenty pioneering early crypto artists, recognized as having been active in the space before it was widely known.
