Kopfgestaltung is the pseudonym of Germanmedia artist Bernd Kopf, who merges CGI and sound design into immersive audiovisual worlds.Almost every element in his work is made from scratch: textures come from his own photography, 3D objects are custom-modeled, and the audio uses self-developed synth patches or field recordings. He completed a master's degree at the University of Applied Sciences Mainz in 2018.
His graduation film Drone, made the same year, explores the atmosphere created by the interplay of music, sound design and image, working back and forth between picture and sound until the final cut.In 2021 he produced Hidden, an experimental animation of an unseen microscopic world shot through microscopes and macro lenses, with sound made from field recordings of breaking wood, nuts and dry leaves. The piece was supported by a scholarship from the Hessische Kulturstiftung for artistic projects made during the pandemic and was shown as part of the exhibition “Augenblick Kultur”.He later made Synthese, 2023, an audiovisual study of a slow-motion flow of synthetic molecules.
Kopfgestaltung has repeatedly collaboratedwith the actor and poet Laurence Fuller, contributing visuals and sound to the audiovisual collection Poetics, in which 19 artists set Fuller's narration to image and music.Working from the idea behind his Tablets piece, based on Michelangelo's sculpture of Moses, Kopfgestaltung and Fuller conceived Dig X, a project of ten fragments, each representing one of the Ten Commandments, produced together with other artists.,Their collaboration continued with the ReliX Reveal collection, of which ReliX ~ Amulet was the fifth joint work between Fuller and Kopfgestaltung. In 2024 he created concert visuals for the electronic music event Afterlife, developing a loopable, exploding-volcano composition with creative director Michael Titze that could be adapted across different concert venues. His work has been included in group exhibitions such as “Eidetic Memory”, curated by Gary Edward Blum, and in objkt's 2025 Art Pack, for which he produced an original commissioned piece alongside more than 60 other artists on the platform.,
