Kitasavi (b. 1992), born Nikita Savinov, is an artist who works across 3D graphics, sculpture, painting and photography, taking objects, textures and colour from everyday urban life and reassembling them into a maximalist reality where chaos is the only order.Trained as a graphic designer, he went freelance in 2017 before entering the NFT space in 2020, after the artist David Porte Beckefeld introduced him to Foundation.
Kitasavi describes his process as roughly 90 percent improvisation: he sculpts objects in VR or 3D software, then scratches, crumples, tears and layers them with textures to imitate the look of real materials such as metal, PVC and enamel. He calls his style “digital ceramics assemblage”, citing influences that range from the fantasy books and role-playing games of his teenage years to artists including Tony Oursler and Michelle Segre.
His series include Bring Your Own Bag, affordable, minimalist, square-format pieces, and Object Not Found and Surroundings, animated works made for the Satellite NFT Exhibition in Sydney, the former resembling a digital museum and the latter large, detailed maximalist animations. He has also designed album art for the rap duo Roc Marciano and The Alchemist and typography for an album by Girl in Red, and shown work through Superchief Gallery and in an underground gallery in the New York subway system.
Kitasavi has had a solo exhibition at Bright Moments Gallery in Los Angeles, and his work has been shown in the United States, Australia, Germany, France, Austria, Japan, Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay.In July 2023 Valuart Solos presented a solo IRL exhibition of his work, “A Thought-Provoking Journey into The Depths of Perception”, at Valuart Gallery in Lugano-Paradiso, Switzerland, surveying pieces from 2021 to 2023.He is based in Istanbul, Turkey.,
