Kira0 is a multidisciplinary artist and architect who makes generative and parametric artworks with code, digital fabrication and video mapping. His work sits between architecture and nature, built from dense fields of small elements that reveal themselves only on close inspection. He works mainly on the generative art platform fxhash, drawing on themes of urbanism, ecology and the aftermath of technological overreach.
His collection Highrise of Homes, released on fxhash, proposes a vertical community inspired by a 1981 work of the same name by the architect James Wines. Each piece is built to be zoomed into in detail, revealing a structure meant to “accommodate people's conflicting desires to enjoy the cultural advantages of an urban center, without sacrificing the private home identity and garden space associated with suburbia”. In July 2023 he released Remnants of Humanity, a series made with p5.js that imagines humanity abandoning a ruined, ecologically devastated Earth for artificial habitats in space. Kira0 has written that these sterile, manmade environments fail to recreate the balance of the natural world, eroding what it means to be human. His work has also been shown in the group exhibition “Generative Architecture. The Making of a Room.” on the platform Verse.
