Karoline Georges is a Canadian multidisciplinary artist and novelist based in Quebec, working across virtual photography, video, 3D modeling and artificial intelligence. Her work examines the porous boundaries between body, consciousness, virtuality and artificial intelligence through hybrid images of synthetic consciousnesses, avatars and androids. She holds degrees in cinema and interdisciplinary arts from the University of Quebec at Chicoutimi, and in art history from the University of Quebec at Montreal.
Georges is the author of eight books. Her novel The Imago Stage (De synthèse) won Canada's Governor General's Literary Award. Under The Stone (Sous béton) was the first Québec title published in Gallimard's Folio SF collection. This dual identity as novelist and visual artist gives her technological works a distinctive narrative and philosophical depth.
