Kaloh, publicly identified as Hugo Santana, is a Venezuelan writer, curator and generative artist working in blockchain art.,Kaloh founded Kaloh's Newsletter, a Substack publication on blockchain art that grew to more than 10,000 readers, and Blind Gallery, a blind NFT collecting platform on Tezos that has worked with more than 70 blockchain artists.
As a child, Kaloh drew on collected toilet paper rolls, a habit later revisited in the 2021 piece Empty Toilet Paper Roll.Kaloh worked with a team of artists, developers and collectors to co-found Unibotz, a 4,210-piece NFT collection on Tezos whose royalties fund an art fund supporting emerging artists and the wider Tezos NFT economy.Kaloh released a first generative art collection, Impossible Sneakers, on FxHash in February 2022, after spending two months learning the p5.js coding library to produce abstract, sneaker-shaped forms.Kaloh followed this with Soto, a 2022 FxHash collection of 270 editions built from moving line strands that reference the kinetic sculpture of Venezuelan artist Jesus Soto, whose work Kaloh encountered at MoMA in London.
Blind Gallery lets collectors exchange mint passes for anonymous artworks before the participating artists' identities are revealed, and expanded in February 2024 with Academy by Blind Gallery, an educational platform for blockchain art funded by the Tezos Foundation.,Kaloh curated “MESHfair” at Decentraland Art Week in 2024 alongside curators including Arthemort, Kika Nicolela and BelleNFTs.Kaloh also co-curated “Vistas Edition” with Casey Reas on Feral File, an exhibition of generative landscapes whose artists remained unknown until a closing reveal, produced in partnership with Blind Gallery.
