Juan Pez (Argentine, b. 1986) is an illustrator based in Buenos Aires who works independently across editorial and advertising illustration and character design. His work is influenced by nostalgia, modern conspiracy theories, lo-fi music and poetry. His illustrations have been recognized by American Illustration, Domestika and Bacánika.
For the NGO Oxfam International he made images for The Other Side of Paradise, an online data visualization and storytelling project sharing findings from the first inequality report on Guatemala, produced by Oxfam and the London School of Economics. His cover illustration for PRADO Magazine's annual issue, based on a painting by Antonio María Esquivel, was selected for the online archive of American Illustration. He illustrated a modern adaptation of Hansel and Gretel for the podcast Cuentos Feroces, addressing the dangers of talking to strangers as part of an anti-grooming education effort. One of his illustrations was included in the collective exhibition “Sudestada” at Casa Florida in Buenos Aires, on the theme of nightfall, which was later invited to the Gran Salón Mexico Contemporary Illustration Fair at Mexico City's Center for Digital Culture.
