José Narciso (Brazilian, b. 1996) is a self-taught visual artist working across painting and digital culture, using family photographs, daily rituals, Brazilian symbols and images found online as raw material. Painting gives these sources a new physical presence, while digital circulation extends their life beyond the studio. Born in Belo Horizonte, he held his first solo exhibition at Galeria Savta in Brasília in 2021.
Narciso was raised in a family of painters — both his father and grandfather painted, and art always held a place on the family walls — which shaped his understanding of images as vessels for memory and emotion. A bull recurs throughout his practice as a figure of power, fear, celebration and protection, rooted in memories of Brazilian popular culture and moving between sacred and ordinary life.
In A Garden of Small Changes (2026), 30 daily acrylic paintings released through NINFA, he follows change as a gradual, lived experience: each canvas holds a different arrangement of flowers, vessels and color, with a handwritten diary on its reverse recording the day it was made. A sold-out series of fifteen paintings set self-imposed rules — geometric vessels, flowers and saturated planes arranged without repeating colors across adjacent forms — translating the logic of digital design into physical canvases. Another series is built from a family photograph of his father and aunt as children, using pixels, repetition and transparent passages to interrupt the image and make the unreliability of memory visible. He also brings the looseness of his sketchbook into a native onchain collection of one hundred individually drawn characters shaped by internet humor, awkwardness and human detail.
His work has appeared in exhibitions and projects in Seoul, Milan and New York, and on platforms including SuperRare and NINFA.In August 2026 he took part in the group exhibition “STILL WET” at Galerie Met in Berlin, alongside artists including Esra Eslen and khwampa. In 2025 he was one of more than 60 artists commissioned for Season One of objkt's Art Pack, a tradable NFT reward program.
