Jon Wubbushi is a digital artist who uses generative AI image making to explore trauma, dissociation, and the collective unconscious. His images combine the immediacy of street photography with the expressive qualities of figurative and abstract painting to create scenes that blur the real and the surreal. Drawing on his own experience of generational dissociation, he creates visual echoes of a fictional past.
In The Rapture, a 300-edition AI collection released through BrainDrops in October 2024, Wubbushi depicts a future in which AI's rise pushes humanity into existential absurdity and fragmented reality.,Modern Zombies, a 650-piece collection, portrays the loneliness and fading individuality produced by constant connectivity, using a faded 1970s-inspired palette developed through an iterative AI training process he calls Generation Gained.Trash Barbie reimagines Ken and Barbie amid neglect, abuse, and objectification, set against motels and trailer parks.
$Darkbushi is a long-running performance project centered on Darkbushi, a shadow persona devised as the inverse of Wubbushi, with $Darkbushi tokens issued as a blockchain certificate of the performance's ongoing evolution.He also took part in the group exhibition “MORE.zip”, presented by Heft on Verse, alongside artists including ClownVamp and Alice Gordon.In 2024 his work appeared in “The Path To The Present”, a group exhibition of digital and generative art at Expanded Art that also featured Herbert W. Franke and Jennifer & Kevin McCoy.
