Joain is a self-taught digital artist whose practice grew out of graphic design and a career in visual effects, exploring systems, layers, and visual logic. Working with neural networks trained on his own drawings, scans, and digital collages, he describes his approach in his own words: “The tools may be digital, but the thinking is tactile”.
His series Chronogrid, released on objkt.one in May 2025, compresses his earlier gestural, expressive abstraction into more structured, data-like, grid-based compositions. The collection comprises four unique pieces and two editions, each redeemable for a physical print through a partnership with Artscape. Joain describes the shift toward Chronogrid not as a departure but, in his words, “an extension of my usual abstract work”. He treats colour as a structural rather than decorative element, saying “colour carries structural responsibility”. In April 2025, he also released a work through SuperRare's Daily Rares, a weekday program of single 24-hour reserve auctions for one-of-one artworks.
