Jie Liou is a Taiwan-based motion designer and 3D artist working in motion graphics, info graphics, and 3D concept art. He graduated from the Animation Department at Taipei National University of the Arts in 2014.His practice spans commercial motion graphics projects and short film direction.,
Early in his career he worked on commercial motion graphics and animation projects for design studios including NullsDesign and Somei Design.,,For NullsDesign, he did graphic design for a promotional film for the album Brutalist by the musician Waves of Doppler.He also animated a 2018 promotional film for the “Imagining Memorial” exhibition at the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall.For a Xiaomi smartphone commercial produced by Somei Design, he worked on 3D animation, city layout, and lighting.
He later directed the short film Origin for the collective FPA. FPA describes itself as a new kind of digital art gallery, a platform for creators across disciplines and cultures. Produced over nearly ten months, Origin traces a journey from elemental imagery and brutalist architecture to a mixed media portrait, exploring the transition from void to vitality.
