Jay Delay

Bio

Jay Delay is an artist whose work has been exhibited within TrashArt, an NFT-era movement that emerged in 2019 out of disputes over image appropriation and mass production in crypto art. A selection of his pieces was shown in a TrashArt group exhibition at Avant Galerie Vossen, curated by Robness.

He also hosted RATS (Rapid Art Token Swaps) with Steve Klebanoff, an on-chain project built around 100 tokens that participants could trade — art for art, art for a token, or a token for art. Once all the tokens were claimed, anyone could swap their own NFT into the shared vault, and the artist Damjanski described the resulting curatorial process as documented on the blockchain “like a beautiful performance”. In a later reflection on TrashArt and Cryptoart, the artist Desultor credited Jay Delay with the idea of “the democratization of art”.
