Jan Baumgartner is a German visual artist working in digital and photographic media, with a minimalist practice built around colour, light and negative space. His work uses colour and digital space to create a sense of calm, offering what he describes as an escape from the everyday.
In Think Blue he paid homage to the colour blue and its calming effect on the mind, building the piece around the hex colour #005677 and a photograph of a person in an ordinary everyday moment. He also released The blue room (2022), a unique digital work on Ethereum whose two halves he has described as exploring “the emotional depth of blue - calm, introspective, and expansive”. Baumgartner has taken part in curated group exhibitions, including “Here for the Art” on Foundation in October 2023 and “787 Presents Echoes of the Squares” on SuperRare in January 2025.
