Jakestudyos is a Filipino artist from Manggahan, Pasig, whose work blends the aesthetics of Philippine street art and hand-painted cinema billboards with digital, cartoon-influenced figures. He draws bold-lined, brightly coloured characters with disproportionate, cartoonish bodies that mix human and digital personas, and mints his work as NFTs on the Tezos blockchain.
His family wanted him to become an architect, but unable to afford art school, he studied Drafting Technology instead as the closest available option. He has said the technical drawing skills taught in that program, such as viewing an object from multiple angles, later helped him imagine faces and figures for the frame-by-frame animation in his art. After being diagnosed with dysthymia in November 2020, he began using his art as a form of expression and a sanctuary, and started minting NFTs on Tezos, a choice driven by the blockchain's accessibility. He was onboarded to Tezos by Jarrett Cross during the early days of Hic et Nunc, and had his first sustained NFT sales in 2021. He has said his goal is to build a studio, named JakeStudyos, as a space for artists without similar support to create.
His work was included in Buena Mano, a 2022 genesis collection released by the community platform Tezos Filipinos alongside artists including Bjorn Calleja and Loopymoon.That year he was also selected among the Best of 20 shortlisted digital artists in the inaugural “INSTINC D:Art Festival”, a physical and metaverse exhibition held in Singapore.,
