Jacob VanderVelde is a nature photographer who grew up in Hawaii and photographs the islands' oceans, volcanic terrain and skies. A former professional wave rider, he turned to photography to share the ocean's “impact zone”, which he calls “the place where chaos meets absolute peace”. He produces his photographs as large-format prints on acrylic and archival metal, calling the results “Elemental Displays”.¹
