Bio
Jacob Gold is a generative artist who writes code that builds compositions from a single repeated shape, developing variation algorithms whose results he has described as resembling paintings more than his earlier work. His work draws on musical minimalism, where repetition highlights small changes in rhythm and harmony, and on Joan Mitchell's paintings, whose expressive strokes and negative space he cites as an influence.
Through Curved Air, released on the platform Art Blocks in 2023, builds on a compositional-variation algorithm he first developed for his earlier projects Coquina and Primordial. He was interviewed for Art Blocks' After Dinner Mints video series in 2022.
