Jack Kaido is a pseudonymous British artist who makes digital abstract paintings on Procreate, building up layers from quick sketches into compositions that mix web browsers, app interfaces, glitches and pixelation with references to art history.,He calls this visual language “tabstraction”, a term for the collage of digital and painterly influences, from prehistoric cave art to Willem de Kooning, that runs through his work.,
Kaido first trained in physical oil painting before discovering digital abstraction, downloading Photoshop and Procreate to make his first digital works. After making digital abstracts for about two years he discovered NFTs and began minting his work. A turning point came with his Errors works, when he moved away from imitating physical painting and leaned into abstraction built from native digital elements.
His more methodical Traces series (2022) carries source imagery collected and planned out in advance, in contrast to the faster, expressionistic process behind his other abstractions.,In late 2024 he released a debut series of limited-edition prints with Avant Arte, having discovered the platform through its 2023 collaboration with Ripcache on Security.,His paintings have sold at Christie's and Sotheby's and have been shown at Saatchi Gallery in London as part of the British Art Fair's “Pivotal: Digitalism”.
In early 2024 one of his paintings flew to the International Space Station as part of Axiom Space's AX-3 mission.,His work is featured in the book The History of Bitcoin, and in April 2025 he was included in “Digital Decadence: The Art of Falling Apart” at Offline by SuperRare in New York.,
