ikertje (also styled IKERTJE or IKΞRTJΞ) is a designer who has worked with photography for more than twenty years, spanning portrait, street, architectural and minimalist work. The practice pays close attention to framing, colour and overlooked detail, as in Residual Barrier, a 2011 Berlin photograph selected for 6529's Network Museum through its Keys and Gates acquisition program.
Residual Barrier studies construction seams, graffiti and a dark coping line beneath a pale sky, treating a barrier whose practical function has weakened while its memory continues to shape behaviour. ikertje has also contributed to 6529's The Memes collection, including Walk Into Freedom (#431, 2025), a still image released in an edition of 310 that the artist accompanied with the line “They said you can't go alone. But here you are”. MEMERY CARD GAME - ALL SEASONS (#477, 2026) is an interactive HTML memory-pairs game built from images of Meme cards across past, present and future seasons, designed, in the artist's words, to “wake the brain up”. A separate 1/1 piece, Ephemeral Horizons, was released through networked.art's Time Capsule series.
