Hypereikon, an Argentine artist duo based in Buenos Aires formed by María Constanza Lobos and Sebastián Rojas, makes generative video and immersive installations exploring the porous boundaries between organic systems and digital infrastructure.,,,They treat technology as a living ecology rather than a mere tool, using immersive installations and generative audiovisual works to reveal the data flows running through a hyperconnected age.,
Lobos and Rojas met in Valdivia, Chile, where they had studied architecture, video game design and sound engineering before turning to creative code. They learned live coding and video synthesis through the ToplapValdivia node, working alongside Christian Oyarzun and Alejandro Albornoz. Around 2020 they began combining that practice with AI image and video models, splitting their output between a video-synthesis project called Lil Code and the AI-focused work released as Hypereikon. They describe their AI-based work as an exploration of “speculative nature”, imagining how understandings of ecosystems might evolve in an increasingly digital world. They entered the NFT space in March 2021 and took part in residencies including one with hicetnunclabs and the VerticalCrypto Art residency.
“Before crypto art, it was difficult for artists to support themselves.” They have said that crypto sales let them make art full time and reach collectors internationally. In 2023 Hypereikon showed OBSERVATORIO: latencias at the exhibition “Indisciplinas” at Espacio Cultural La Leñera in Valdivia, Chile, and Conexiones Transitorias at NAVE in Santiago, Chile. That year they also minted underwater on objkt, a speculative marine scene reflecting a practice that explores the blurred boundaries between the organic and the digital in the posthuman era. The piece was later exhibited in a satellite show with Becoming Art in Jeju, South Korea, in September and October 2024.In 2025 Hypereikon took part in the group exhibition “Machina Fauna” at Galerie Data in Paris, curated by Diane Drubay, contributing immersive digital landscapes exploring the fusion of biology and algorithms.,
