Huemin is a generative AI artist and programmer who explores the relationship between humans, artificial intelligence and digital space.Since 2021 Huemin has worked with AI art as a medium, making digital works that blend vibrant color, minimalist aesthetics and geometric abstraction, from vector-style architecture to post-impressionist digital paintings.
Huemin has a background in engineering and physics and has contributed to the open-source AI art community, including developing the tool JAX Automated Stitching.Huemin created Deforum, a tool for generating animations with diffusion models across text-to-video, image-to-video and video-to-video, and went on to found Deforum Studio and Dream Computing.Huemin has also led the community project Deforum Stable Diffusion, a free-to-use stable diffusion inference tool, and received an a16z open-source AI grant.
Huemin released Materia Mania on Braindrops, a collection of abstract, AI-generated forms set against a solid black background that highlights the emergent, chaotic nature of a diffusion model steered toward simple, elegant shapes and textures.Another piece, memory's trace, was made in collaboration with AI and depicts what Huemin has described as “a bamboo forest during a lush spring season”, rendered in a watercolor palette.Huemin also co-built a custom diffusion model with the artist No Usr, trained entirely on the body of work of artist Jenni Pasanen for use in her own pieces.
For the 2024 Venice Biennale, Huemin created The Dream Cathedral together with artist Ganbrood, a site-specific interactive AI installation presented by Bright Moments at the Chiesa di San Giovanni Evangelista. In February 2025 Huemin's work was included in “Augmented Intelligence”, Christie's first auction devoted solely to art created with AI.
