Houri Naeimi (b. 1988) is a painter and digital artist whose grotesque, free-form figurative work depicts human violence and the manipulation of the masses by media propaganda in contemporary society.,She began her professional practice in 2017 with the solo exhibition “Removed Your Masks Please!” at Aknoon Gallery, and entered the NFT space in 2022, selling work on both Ethereum and Tezos.
Her series Anatomy of Power portrays the human body stripped of identity, reduced to flesh consumed within cycles of dominance and submission. In her long-term project The Butchers, she uses symbolism to critique systems including war, media, banks, medicine and education, casting each as a butcher of some part of life. The piece Production Of Consent draws on Noam Chomsky's theory of manufactured consent, the idea that modern power shapes opinion through media and repetition rather than direct force. Her series Fluid Identities uses water as a space of transformation, submerging figures whose identities shift and whose boundaries between body and soul blur. The works are made in acrylic on canvas, with some incorporating bleach, wood stain and Ecoline.
Her work has also been shown in Tokyo as part of “Don't touch!”, a group exhibition curated by NONE32X32.In 2023 she took part in group exhibitions in Paris and Las Vegas, and in a Belgium show curated by Artcrush.
