Holly Herbert is an abstract expressionist artist whose work centers on themes of solitude and chaos. Much of it is shaped by a lack of control over her own health. She has said she creates to feel free, an escape from the solitude of being confined to her home, and that NFTs have let her share that perspective with a wider audience.
In Looking Out, released on Teia, bold, swift lines suggest a view out a window onto a cityscape, blurring the line between the viewer and the scene. Herbert has said that spontaneity is essential to her painting, especially in physical work, giving a piece “an uncontrolled, exciting quality” that reflects how unexpected and uncontrollable much of life is. She has said abstract art doesn't rely on the literal or the familiar to provoke emotion, which she believes allows for a deeper connection with the viewer.
