Hevey is a generative artist who makes his work in code, often using p5js, and has released work on both Art Blocks and fxhash. His generative systems range from dense algorithmic cityscapes to architectural structures shaped by psychological metaphor. Dencity reimagines aerial views of dense cities through an algorithm that draws up to four million lines per output.
He released Abstraction through Art Blocks Factory, an open editorial program for generative art that closed in October 2022. Each of its roughly 256 unique outputs is built in stages, with every new element drawn taking the elements from previous stages into account. In Trasiedoc, he embedded the source code of Dencity directly into each output, calling it a way to reveal the hidden, usually invisible code behind generative art. Constructions Mentales takes the same procedural approach to a different subject, piling eroded architectural fragments and barred windows into a metaphor for the memories, social conditioning and repressed emotion that shape the mind.
