Han Saglam, also known as hanrgb, is a Turkish artist who lives and works in New York and creates generative work using algorithms, data and smart contracts. Since 2020, he has explored NFTs and on-chain art, treating code not just as a tool but as the artwork itself.
In 2020, Saglam released CryptoCubes, one of the first fully on-chain generative 3D art collections. Each of its 256 pieces is algorithmically generated and stored entirely on the Ethereum blockchain, independent of external servers.The following year, he launched CryptoCubes Creators, inviting other artists to each interpret an unclaimed CryptoCube number in their own style as a one-of-one work.The initiative grew across multiple seasons, drawing contributions from artists including Refik Anadol, Six N. Five and Erick Calderon.
In 2021, Saglam collaborated with French creative coder Nicolas Daniel on AlgoRhythms, an Art Blocks project inspired by music boxes. Each piece pairs generative visuals with music generated from twenty-eight musical scales drawn from different cultures.AlgoRhythms was later included among the works picked for Kate Vass Galerie's 2025 exhibition “Milestones: A History of Generative Breakthroughs on Art Blocks”, tracing five years of the platform's history.In 2022, the pair released AlgoBeats on Art Blocks, transforming linear rhythms into circular visual forms inspired by drum machines and ticking clocks.
That September, Saglam collaborated with 404.zero on LightOnChain, an installation of 660 individually addressable lights in Kaplankaya, Turkey, each controlled by its own on-chain token. The installation launched in September 2022 to coincide with Ethereum's transition to proof-of-stake, known as the Merge, and Saglam gave away all 660 tokens for free.His work is held in the permanent collections of LACMA and the Dataland Museum, and has sold above estimate at Sotheby's and Christie's.
