Halo Machine (Argentine, b. 1990) is an artist who works in watercolour, acrylic and gouache to explore a tension between nostalgia and the future, drawing on urban and digital experience. Her work borrows visual language from the early Internet and pixel art to preserve a tactile sensibility in a world where digital production and artificial intelligence seem to erase the human trace.
Halo Machine was born in Córdoba, Argentina, and studied Visual Arts at the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, continuing her training through workshops with artists including Paula Cecchi, Alejandro Burdisio, Rafael Cerrito, Pablo Padilla, Roger Mantegani and Proyecto Purpura. She began with a realist approach centred on watercolour, developing an interest in detail and in the emotional atmospheres of everyday urban life.
In her series Grunge Dreams, a solitary avatar moves through ruined urban landscapes and digital scenes charged with hostile emotion, where the wreckage of a devastated city and the emotional chaos of social networks share the same visual plane. Each piece is a vignette that blends figurative imagery with pop visual language in an intimate narrative about identity and belonging, drawing on 1990s anime, video games, transhumanism and cyberpunk.
Halo Machine held the solo exhibition “Grunge Dreams: Inocencia” at Galería Cerrito in Córdoba in 2022 and showed in the group exhibition “Accelerate Art + Scope” at Art Basel in Miami Beach the same year. In 2023 her work appeared in “Accelerate Art + Unfold” at NFT NYC in New York, and in 2025 she took part in “Eye Candy Protocol” and “Art on Tezos” at Devconnect in Buenos Aires.
