Jakub Sobka, known as Guandanarian, is a Polish computer scientist and pixel artist whose work combines handmade, frame-by-frame animated pixel art made in Aseprite with colourful 3D patterns and shapes generated in Blender, Pico-8 and Mandelbulb 3D.,His style took shape around the time of his university graduation in 2021.
Across his work he builds a fictional universe called A-systems, a mysterious organization whose circuits and technological artifacts feature its flagship creation, a small assistant character named Bit.He often hides messages inside his pieces, sometimes down to a single pixel, and breaks the fourth wall for attentive viewers, an approach he sums up with the motto “Every pixel has a story”.,He describes his own style as “digital horror vacui”, built either around a single large 3D shape sculpted in Blender or Mandelbulb 3D and post-processed in Aseprite, or around a shape surrounded by many small elements.
In December 2021 he collaborated with the artist Andrew E. Brereton on Local Ontology Secured Transistor.,Guandanarian built the piece's pixel art circuit board composition, and integrated into it a set of looping micro-animations that Brereton created for it.His work has since been shown at NFT Liverpool and at Neo Shibuya TV's 30 Second Museum on Shibuya Crossing in Tokyo, both in 2022, and at NFT Paris in 2023.,In 2023 his work was also included in “digital dreams.”, a group exhibition of NFT art curated by Kika Nicolela at the Musée de la Mine et du Développement durable in Bois-du-Luc, Belgium, as part of the ARTour biennial.He was profiled alongside other pixel artists in the printed anthology TzAR: Pixel Art Anthology from Tezos Art Review.
