Grd.ill, who also works under the name IllGrd, is a digital artist who makes short animated NFT pieces exploring vulnerability and emotion in male subjects, a perspective rarely shown so intimately in NFT portraiture. The animation is used deliberately, balanced to emphasize sentiment rather than spectacle.
In Sadness and Wildflowers, tears are shown openly rather than concealed, while Darkness conveys depression and loneliness. Other pieces capture quieter, everyday moments with a calming quality, such as a metro scene in Metro and a seasonal scene in New Year. In 2022 this work was featured in UNDRGRND DIGS, a series through which community members nominate artists for inclusion in the Tezos-based UNDRGRND Collection. Grd.ill's work has also been listed in the online archive GIF Museum's artist collection.
