Chris Granneberg is a pixel artist who draws in ink, scans and recolors his drawings with glitter card stock, and mints the resulting images fully on-chain on Ethereum.Trained as an industrial designer, he spent sixteen years working in New York, including as Product Director at Karim Rashid's studio, before opening Chris Granneberg Studio in Los Angeles in 2016.,
His first digital art collection, Automatic Pepe, was minted on Ethereum in September 2022 and consists of ink drawings made “automatically” and colored in Photoshop. He continued to develop the process in Granneberg On-Chain, begun in December 2023, a collection of one-of-one artworks minted fully on-chain on Ethereum that mixes scanned and pixelated drawings with rendered 3D components and pixel art drawn by mouse. In Pixelmatic Pepe, a 100-piece collection from August 2024, ink drawings are scanned, colored, pixelated and then redrawn pixel by pixel before being minted fully on-chain. In December 2025 he moved the same drawing-to-pixel process onto Bitcoin with Ordimatic Pepe, a genesis Ordinal collection of 69 scanned, pixelated and recolored ink drawings.
His work has appeared in group exhibitions including “Protocol Decay: Marfa 2025”, a show of 35 artists held in a church venue in Marfa, Texas during Art Blocks Weekend 2025 as part of the Protocol Decay series. He has also made cover art for other artists' releases, including the AOTM music NFT Satasha Nakamama by Rare Scrilla in 2024.
