Glitch Town, the working name of the artist vito vitacca, is a glitch artist known for two related practices: an analog one using CRT televisions, modified video synthesizers, and real-time signal distortion, and a digital one, worked under the name Glitch Town Arcade, built from corrupted video game ROM files and hex editing.
Working as Glitch Town Arcade, vitacca corrupts video game ROM files and manipulates pixels with hex editing tools, producing distorted glitch textures that draw on data corruption and chaotic aesthetics to create striking compositions. As Glitch Town, the analog counterpart to this practice, he instead works with CRT televisions, modified video synthesizers, and real-time signal distortion, embracing what he calls “raw, unfiltered visuals” that bridge old and new media. His piece Bring the Glitches Back appeared in the Tezos UNDRGRND Collection in September 2022, described as capturing the childhood ritual of blowing into a jammed Nintendo cartridge only to be met with corrupted, fractured images on screen.
Glitch Town Arcade was profiled alongside fellow ROM-corruption artists Mazin and silvasantuz in Electric Chronicles' Pixel Art Profiles series, and included in the print anthology TzAR: Pixel Art Anthology, which gathered dozens of pixel artists working on Tezos.
