Gerard Ferrandez, known as ge1doot, is a generative artist based in Toulouse, France, who writes creative code to produce generative animations and interactive 3D artworks.,Not formally trained as an artist,he works as an IT manager in the aerospace industryand began with 8-bit home computers as a child, publishing type-in code listings in computer magazines before moving into generative art.,
One of his animations, The Last Experience, has drawn more than 6 million views on CodePen.He was introduced to NFTs in late 2020 by a collector who discovered his work online,and later collaborated with him on three projects, including Ignition.
Ignition (2021), his project for Art Blocks, became Project #9 in the platform's founding series.The work grew out of his interest in fractal, recursive structures generated by context-free grammar rules, building on Chris Coyne's Context Free Art and Mikael Hvidtfeldt Christensen's Structure Synth before he wrote his own rule-based system in JavaScript. Each Ignition token combines cubes or double-pyramids, gaps between them, and a light or dark palette determined by its hash, and lets a collector spin, throw and zoom the piece with the mouse or a touchscreen. He described the piece as “probably the first 3D interactive WebGL NFT fully on-chain”, built without external code libraries.In 2025 Ignition was included in Art Blocks' “Milestones: A History of Generative Breakthroughs” exhibition,and his 2021 piece The Plant [Ambient Occlusion] was featured by CreativeApplications.net.His practice has since shifted from real-time animated demos toward static vector drawings made for a pen plotter, alongside continued work in WebGL.
