In one post he shows how modular arithmetic applied to a grid of points produces symmetric, repeating tile patterns reminiscent of Persian rugs.³ In another he generates fractal images from the Mandelbrot set, which he calls mysterybrots, comparing orbit-trap and escape-time coloring methods.⁴

He also works with flow fields, plotting vector fields of points in the complex plane to build up generative compositions.⁵ In another piece, he worked from Lissajous curves, shapes traced out by sinusoidal motion in two dimensions. The curves are named after Jules Lissajous, who explored them extensively in the nineteenth century.⁶
