The Chicago-based artist Frank Manzano creates AI-based video and digital compositions that explore shared societal symbols and the connections people form with them.,Formally trained in film and photography at Columbia College,Manzano moved from traditional media into AI art, working under the handle Loved Orleer.
The alias comes from an early experiment with AI text generation, in which one prompt produced a garbled rendering resembling the phrase “loved order”, which Manzano adopted as an Instagram handle.Manzano's practice began in traditional photography and painting before shifting into frame-by-frame digital animation and, eventually, AI-generated video.,Manzano has named Philip Guston and Cy Twombly as visual influences, and the musician Klaus Schulze as a reference point for sound.
Manzano's work returns to consumerism, mass culture and the loss of individuality, often depicting bodies that merge with televisions and screens. In Current Value (2023), AI-generated imagery confronts American audiences with the real consequences of violence that entertainment typically leaves out.Texture Moppers (2024) was built entirely from footage Manzano shot on his phone in a single day, processed into a glitchy, augmented-reality aesthetic that reflects on life mediated through screens. For Missing link (2025), Manzano reflected on five years spent building a gestural, expressive digital practice spanning photobashing, frame-by-frame animation and AI.Hunting (2026) pairs video with reactive sound built from corrupted and re-voiced digital files, treating technical error as raw material for a ritual, embodied experience. That same year, Manzano quietly minted research, a collection of fifteen audiovisual one-of-one videos built from early AI video aesthetics, glitches and non-linear, dreamlike narratives.
