Fran Rodríguez (Spanish, b. 1980) is a digital collage artist working under the name lacabezaenlasnubes, Spanish for "head in the clouds". His work is deeply inspired by an early fondness for surrealism and psychedelia. Rodríguez has spent two decades creating visual elements for concerts and albums for bands including Weezer, Tame Impala, and Tycho.
Rodríguez was born in Torrelavega, in the Cantabria region of northern Spain, and later lived in Madrid before settling in Barcelona. He studied graphic design after turning twenty and spent a decade working in advertising agencies before shifting his focus to art around the age of thirty. He has said his early psilocybin experiences permanently changed how he perceives color and texture, and that his work is “a continuous attempt to capture the tones and vibrations I perceived under the effects”.
